Greetings from Oregon! I'm hoping to attempt an install of MkLinux DR-3 today on my Power Macintosh 6100/66, and I just ran across your site. If you have any tips, I'd appreciate it. I know a few basic UNIX commands, and a little bit of old-time BASIC and LP-mud C, but aside from that I'm a total neophyte when it comes to anything akin to UNIX. My goals are not high... I just wanted to experiment with Linux. If I decide to continue tinkering with Linux, I will upgrade my RAM from 25 to 64 MB, but I don't think I'll be able upgrade my 650 MB hard drive since I happen to be a Benedictine monk and I'm not sure I could justify such an expenditure. I'll have to try to visit your site again.

I like mkLinux, I use it on my performa 5320 just for the fun of it. But i'd like to know if I am able to use the newest version of the kernel(2.4) on ftp://mach-linux.org in the kernel map, or will that not work?

Ah, could someone please edit the flames? This site still has potential, and I think the curious surfers should get a better introduction. The last guy called linux "gay"?!?! and he used the word "pro's" in the same sentence. I think not!! I wish I could be like him, fourteen maybe, sexually frustrated. (or maybe just SWI, surfing while intoxicated)

Linux is gay , and many of you wannabe hackers need to start using Windows to hack , like us pro's do!

MkLinux is an UNIX really advanced. He unites sturdiness and elegance that other UNIX systems don't have.

I've been using MkLinux since DR1 and have had it deployed in a corporate environment since 1996. This box has been rock solid from day 1. I can't wait to see the full release version!

Got DR3 with Morin's book and it installed smoothly from the CD onto an old 6100. A longtime Mac-user and a total Unix-newbie, MkLinux has got me to the foot of the famed steep learning curve. I'm setting up a home intranet/appletalk server for my classic Macs, slowly...

Interested in learning some GNU/Linux/UNIX basics and server specifics in a powerful, stable environment on my old 6100/7100 PMacs. That could keep them useful for a long time.

Working with PB1400 is ok but still lacking some important features. Main missing things are floppy and cdrom support and external display support

MkLinux seems complete enough, now only the support for the Sonnettech G3 processor!
